Back in June we celebrated my son's 2nd birthday with a Shrek themed party! It happens to be one of his favorite movies and when we asked him what he wanted that is what he told us! It was an outdoor party and we pulled ideas from all 3 of the Shrek movies.
For the invitations (which I didn't get a picture of!) we cut out of brown paper "WANTED: FAIRY TALE CREATURES" and tore the edges of the paper. We also cut out a Shrek head out of green paper and drew a ogre face on it. On the inside of the invitations we wrote:
"Hear Ye, Hear Ye ! You are invited to a Shrek Party to Celebrate ****'s 2nd Birthday!"
Decor:
We mainly decorated outside in the backyard on a little on the front door. We painted on wooden signs directing people to the backyard with arrows and signs that read; Beware! Ogres Only! Keep Out! No Trespassing!
Once they got to the gate we had made a sign that said:
"Ogres, Elves, Witches, Fairies, Talking Animals, Princesses and All other Fairy Tale Creatures PLEASE ENTER HERE"
The backyard was decorated with green streamers, green pom-poms, and various ogre signs. We had a "FAR FAR AWAY" Hollywood sign.
We had a tree that was "Fiona's Fairy Tale Hat Shop" where we had princess crowns and archer (Robin Hood) hats hanging for all the kids to take one.
The food tables were separated into 3 tables "Shrek's Swamp Snack Shack" "Gingy's Sweet Shop" and "Fairy Godmother's Potion Factory" . All the food had labels corresponding to the table that it was on.
We had favor bags thanking people for celebrating his 2nd birthday and inside we had a ogre green waterbottle, candy, and a cd with music from Shrek with a homemade label that read "****'s 2nd birthday Shrek Mix"
Then to top it off, the big birthday boy also had a "2" shirt to wear!
